Biology Student Creates Eco Lindi to Neutralize Trash Can Odors

Rania Naura Anindhita, a student of the UGM Faculty of Biology, has created a liquid formula of leachate, molasses, sulfuric acid, and organic catalysts mixture to eliminate the smell of garbage cans.

“The Eco Lindi is made from leachate mixed with molasses, sulfuric acid, and organic catalysts and is proven to get rid of unpleasant odors of garbage,” said Anindhita, Friday (3/6).

According to her, she can produce 10 thousand liters of Eco Lindi in one day. Users only need to spray the liquid onto garbage heaps or cans and wait less than 10 minutes to see the results. Eco Lindi has been tested in several landfill sites, markets, and farms and is declared safe for livestock.

“After 3-10 minutes, the smell will vanish. This formula is suitable for all waste that produces odors and can also be used as fertilizer,” said Anindhita.

Raina said that her father, who at that time served as Head of the Environment and Hygiene Service (DLHK) of Sidoarjo Regency, was behind this creation. She was challenged by her father to find a solution to the smell problem in landfill sites.

“The process of neutralizing odors and composting takes about 6-8 weeks. My father dared me to shorten the time. After going through countless discussions and studies, I finally found the Eco Lindi formula,” she said.

With this innovation, Rania received the Trash Control Heroes award from Sidoarjo Regent Ahmad Muhdlor.
