Ecobrick, Efforts to Overcome Plastic Waste in Trisik Beach

Plastic waste is an environmental problem facing the people of Indonesia and the world. Plastic waste is now also one of the sources of pollution in the community. The plastic waste is no exception in Trisik Beach, especially in Sidorejo Hamlet. The rubbish was allegedly originated from the Estgo River Estuary and tourist visits.

The existence of these rubbishes then moved several UGM students to provide ecobrick training to Karang Taruna Muda Youth. This training is expected to reduce plastic waste with ecobrick technology.

Ecobrick training by the UGM student team consisted of Rifa Syahdil Achsan (Geography), Hanifah Makarim, Syifa Hana Agristya, M. Galang Ramadhan Al Tumus (Geography) and Abdul Hafish (Engineering). Rifa Syahdil explained the idea of dealing with waste arose from problems raised by the community directly to the UGM student team. After making observations in the field, the UGM team offered a solution in the form of an ecobrick.

Ecobrick itself is an environmentally friendly brick made with plastic waste. He appointed Karang Taruna Muda Karang Taruna because the youth cadet was a youth mobilizer at Trisik Beach. This ecobrick training has become a new science for the people in Trisik Beach and has become a breakthrough to solve the waste problem. From this training, it is expected to be able to increase the capacity of the community in managing waste in the Trisik Beach tourism area.
