UGM Publishing and Publication Agency held the International Conference on Science and Technology (ICST), an annual conference part of the Universitas Gadjah Mada Annual Scientific Conference series.
ICST 2021 is held on 7-8 September with speakers and participants from various countries worldwide.
“I give my appreciation to the speakers who attended this conference. On behalf of UGM, I welcome all speakers and participants in this year’s ICST,” said UGM Rector, Prof. Panut Mulyono when opening this event on Tuesday (7/9) morning.
He revealed that UGM has a reputation as one of the pioneers in bridging the academic and professional worlds through various collaborations at national and international levels.
The annual conference held in the last few years provides a forum for the scientific community to meet and share the latest developments in the field of science.
“The pandemic has changed our lives but does not reduce our intellectual ability to contribute to the world. ICST 2021 bridges the gap between disciplines to share innovations, research, and ideas related to today’s scientific issues,” said he.
The ICST 2021 is filled with various activities which include plenary sessions with several key speakers and symposium sessions.
The keynote speakers at this conference were Prof. Tomohiro Yokozeki from the University of Tokyo, Japan, Prof. Gil Nonato C. Santos from De La Salle University, the Philippines, Prof. Shou-Yan Chou from the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, and Dr. Ruchi Gupta from the University of Birmingham UK.
Chairperson of ICST 2021, Titis Wijayanto, explained that at this conference five symposiums were held: Symposium on Computers and Information Technology, Electronics, Electricity, Communication, Control, and Instrumentation, Symposium on Life Sciences, Materials, and Applied Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering and Industry Symposium, and Remote Sensing and Geomatics Symposium.
In addition, ICST 2021 is held in conjunction with the 2nd Geoscience and Environmental Management symposium.
“This year, we received 290 submissions from 13 countries such as Malaysia, Japan, France, the United States, and Saudi Arabia,” added Titis.
The first day of ICST 2021 included four symposium sessions and three plenary sessions by Gil Santos, Tomohiro Yokozeki, and Ruchi Gupta. In the first plenary session, Santos presented material science and engineering, while Yokozeki discussed the topic of aerospace structural mechanics.
