Water Efficient Appliances Usage

Universitas Gadjah Mada has a regulation and special team for water provision and distribution, and product innovation, called Toya Gama. Toya Gama is an independent drinking water supply effort for the academic community at Gadjah Mada University Campus (UGM), both from the aspect of raw water, planning and management. Toya Gama has benefits including being an initiator in suppressing the expansion of foreign products in providing quality drinking water independently and reducing consumption of UGM students and academics on drinking water from foreign products.

Until today, water distributed by Toya Gama has covered most of the UGM Area as seen in Figure 1.

Through Toya Gama, UGM is actively creating the product innovation related integrated water supply and distribution for UGM area such as Water Fountain (Figure 2(a)), Water Dispenser (Figure 2(b)), Water Tap (Figure 2(c)), and household water-meter (Figure 2(d)).

UGM implements water efficient appliances from small to large scale, including:

3(a) Eco-flush

3(b) Hand Washing Device with Sensor

3(c) semi-automatic water tap

3(d) automatic water pump for ground tank and water tank

3(e) urinal with high efficiency automatic sprinklers

3(f) use a buoy ball tap to prevent water from exceeding the maximum level

3(g) water meter monitor

UGM has EDGE certification for Faculty of Biology – Building B and Law Learning Center UGM. This certification shows that there is savings and efficiency in water use reaching 30% at the Faculty of Biology – Building B and 37% at the Law Learning Center UGM.
