UGM and PERURI Initiate Research Integration and Synergy

UGM Rector, Prof. Ir. Panut Mulyono, M.Eng., D.Eng., IPU, ASEAN Eng., together with the President Director of the Indonesian Money Printing Corporation (PERURI), Dwina Septiani Wijaya, signed a memorandum of understanding on research integration and synergy between UGM and PERURI, on Thursday (10/12).

UGM and PERURI agreed to carry out research integration and synergy that are relevant to the development of research competencies and collaboration of various research that are in line with the development of science and technology to strengthen the advantages and competitiveness of both parties.

“Innovation and research play an important role. This is the foundation of business development to provide added value,” said Dwina.

She invited UGM and other universities to continue to contribute energy and thoughts for the nation’s progress through increasing the role of science and technology.

“Only countries that master science and technology and apply it in innovation can succeed in realizing prosperity in the future,” she said.

The scope of this memorandum of understanding includes research collaboration in fields relevant to the vision, mission, and strategic plans of UGM and PERURI, exchange of competencies between institutions among others for researchers and/or expert staff, and exploration of the potential of both parties. from various activities, including competitions, seminars, workshops, and conferences at national and international levels.

UGM and PERURI will also update scientific data and information for academic research or literature studies, benchmarks, scientific research, and new useful innovation research.

The signing of this memorandum of understanding was carried out online in conjunction with the launch of the PERURI Research Institute for Authenticity.

On this occasion, the Director-General of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Prof. Ir. Nizam, expressed his appreciation for the launch of the PERURI Research Institute and the collaboration carried out with several universities in developing studies in the field of digital technology, especially those related to cybersecurity.

“Currently, the world’s progress is getting faster and is entering all of daily life, cybersecurity is also a necessity when the virtual world and the real world meet in this era of the industrial revolution 4.0. It is essential to explore research and development,” said Nizam.

He explained that the Directorate General of Higher Education is ready to collaborate and cooperate through a consortium that is expected to become the backbone of digital technology development in Indonesia.

“Congratulations to PERURI. Hopefully, it can well develop and partner closely with researchers at existing universities and research institutions,” he added.
