Tips for Establishing Business for Millennials

Founder of Setchoq, a company engaged in robotics, Malik Khidir, conveyed the tactical steps to run a business so that it can continue to grow and develop amid today’s tight business competition. According to him, the tactical key to a business is innovation, especially in the digital business world.

“The tactical step when you want to build a business in the digital world is innovation,” he explained in the webinar of the Young National Conversation to Build the Nation held by Mardliyah Muda and UGM on Saturday (26/9).

He said that innovation is essential in a business so that it can continue to exist and develop. Innovating is not easy, especially developing innovations that can be accepted and needed by the market.

“If you run a business, people will look for innovation, and when you have value, the business will grow on its own. Meanwhile, those who don’t want to innovate will die,” said the alumnus of Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences UGM.

On that occasion, Malik did not forget to invite the young generation of Indonesia to jointly fight and innovate to provide benefits for the community, nation, and state.

The webinar also presented other speakers from young businesspeople who are also UGM alumni. Some of them are Restoku.id Co-Founder, Ageng Sajiwo and CEO of Analisa Personality Development Center, Analisa Widyaningrum.

Ageng Sajiwo said that it was not difficult to find creative and innovative business ideas. Innovative ideas can be obtained by sharpening sensitivity to the environment. Be observant in reading the situation and capturing various problems in the community because the business appears as a solution to problems.

“Constantly looking for problems that exist in the vicinity because innovation starts with problems,” he said.

Ageng asked the younger generation not to be afraid to start a business. Suppose they finally fail when running their first business. In that case, he asks millennials not to get discouraged and immediately get up and start over because failure can become a part of the learning process in shaping mental and knowledge in achieving success.

Meanwhile, Widyaningrum shared tips for millennials about starting or run a business. One of them by knowing the passion in business.

“Not just passion, but without effort and hard work, we cannot run the business,” she said.

She said that apart from knowing your passion, you also need to understand the values and goals of doing business. In addition, they are also consistent in fighting and do not get discouraged if they fail.

“We must certainly have the power to reflect against failure. If now you fail, please, do not hesitate to get up and try again because we will never grab the success in our hand if we don’t learn from the failures,” Widyaningrum explained.
