Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) developed a bike sharing platform or bicycle rental with barcode security technology called “Speeda” through PT. Gamatechno Indonesia.
This innovation will provide a safe and comfortable bike sharing experience for bike sharing businesses and other users. The system developed focuses on bicycle access and security systems which have been designed to be integrated directly with the payment system.
“Speeda is an innovative key security system for a bicycle rental that can be used in all types of bicycles,” explained Muhammad Reza, part of the business development of PT. Gamatechno, during the RITECH EXPO 2019 to celebrate the 24th National Technology Awakening Day (Hakteknas) at Niti Mandala Renon Field, Bali on Wednesday (28/8).
This system has been developed since June 2019 and is equipped with location-based information content, a multi-management system, and an integrated payment system. It is easy to integrate with other platforms and later can be used in all Speeda bike sharing platforms throughout Indonesia.
Reza explained that Speeda is equipped with features to search for the nearest Speeda station, QR Code scan, information about nearby tourist attractions, and a bicycle top up feature via bank or retail.
“For rental businesses, the features include bicycle tracking, monitoring of rental sessions, asset management, and transaction management.” He also said that the Speeda application is available on the Playstore.
Furthermore, Reza explained that to use the Speeda service, users must first log in to Speeda and then do a top up. Users can search for the nearest bicycle station and scan the QR code in the smart lock to unlock the bike and start the journey. After using, the bicycle is returned to the bicycle stations and then the QR code is scanned again to stop the bill.
“Users can also stop at non-station locations to carry out activities by selecting the parking menu. However, the bill will continue until the bike is returned to the station,” he said.
Reza added, to monitor the position of the bike, it is equipped with a sim card that always sends GPS signals to the server. This way, we can know the position of the bike in real time.
“The bikes are also equipped with solar panels to charge a 20 mAH lithium battery. For a full charge, it takes 1 hour and later it can be used for 30 days,” he explained.
