Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) received the Widya Kridha award first place from the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education in the category of providing technology services to the industry. The award was given during the Science, Technology and Innovation 2019 award event by minister Prof.Muh. Nasir to the Vice Chancellor for Cooperation and Alumni UGM Dr. Paripurna, S.H., M.Hum., LL.M. on Wednesday (28/8) in Bali.
“UGM was given the Widya Kridha award because the university is considered superior in providing technology services to the industry and more advanced in managing Science Techno Park (STP) within the framework of the downstreaming of university innovations,” said the Director of Business Development and Incubation, Dr. Hargo Utomo, M.B.A. after the event.
Hargo said the greatest strength of UGM STP is its strengthening networking with industry and its ability to build integrated teaching and learning with STP.
“So, STP is to strengthen education at UGM and improve the quality of superior research,” he said.
Hargo explained that UGM STP which was established in 2016 is a hub for rotating research and innovation results that focus on the main fields of health, agro, engineering, and other fields that are integrated with social-humanities.
STP UGM is focused on the monodisciplinary as well as multidisciplinary fields, such as the development of biomedical, agro, and digital engineering involving researchers from several faculties at UGM.
“Hopefully, with this award, UGM innovators and inventors will be more passionate in carrying out the results of their research to the industry in STP and the technology transfer (TTO) function and business start-up incubation. UGM STP functions as a connected vehicle centered on the Bulaksumur campus with integrated managerial services in Purwomartani,” he said.
