Training
UGM contributes to the local economy by promoting sustainable businesses through the UGMPreneurs program, which started with a Business Matching Event in September 2023. Organized by the Faculty of Agricultural Technology, this event aimed to create quality entrepreneurship opportunities for students and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The program prepared competitive graduates to boost Indonesia’s economy.
Additionally, the UGM Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) collaborated with Creativago to conduct a digital marketing training program in March 2023, equipping local MSME owners with essential digital skills. Only 60 participants were accepted out of 180 applicants. The training included theoretical presentations and hands-on practice on content creation and customer communication.
In July 2023, UGM’s Directorate of Community Service hosted duck farming training for youth in Batanghari Regency to transform them into “Smart Farmers” equipped with sustainable practices. Participants learned about farm management and marketing strategies to implement in their communities.
In March 2023, a training session on food product processing and packaging was held for MSMEs to address business challenges. Participants learned about branding, labeling, and food safety standards to improve their marketability.
Off-Campus
UGM also offers off-campus training to enhance local businesses’ capabilities. In May 2023, the Faculty of Biology’s Community Service Team organized a training in Malangrejo, focusing on food and beverage product quality. Local entrepreneurs engaged in hands-on activities, learning packaging and promotion strategies to help expand their businesses.
UGM has also collaborated with organizations including PT BNI and PT Gama Multi to create an MSME outlet at the University Club Hotel. These partnerships serve as a platform to promote products from the UGM community and enhance local marketing opportunities.
The Department of Creative Economy and Social Affairs from the Student Executive Board of FEB partnered with the Jetis Village MSME Forum to hold E-Sharing training for 30 microbusiness owners from Jetis and Celep. Supported by local leaders, the training covered product aesthetics, uniqueness, and digital marketing, featuring insights from industry experts. Participants from diverse fields, including food, crafts, and fisheries, expressed hope for long-term growth, while local leaders praised the initiative’s role in supporting sustainable MSME development in Indonesia.
Seminar
To further support local entrepreneurs, UGM’s Master of Law program hosted a business law seminar for MSMEs in October 2023, addressing legal regulations. Key speakers provided insights into legal principles, business licensing, and compliance requirements.
Access to University Facilities
UGM has established an MSME booth at the UC Hotel as a sales platform for curated MSME product. This platform aims to recover and enhance the national economy post-COVID-19. The booth serves as both a sales venue and an educational resource and offers consultations and fostering networks.
These initiatives demonstrate UGM’s commitment to empowering the community through education, training, and infrastructure support. By nurturing entrepreneurship and MSMEs, UGM promotes sustainable development and contributes to achieving the SDGs Target 1.4, which ensures equitable access to resources for all.
