UGM offers diverse financial programs to ensure students from low-income families can complete their education without obstacles. Through partnerships and scholarships, the university focuses on easing tuition payments and providing holistic support to maintain academic continuity.
0% Interest Installment and Financial Loan Options
In collaboration with Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI), UGM launched the Smart Edu BSI Hasanah Card program, allowing students to pay their tuition fees in 0% interest installments. Students can select 3- or 6-month installment options and access the program through the university’s Simaster platform. Those without a BSI Hasanah Card can apply online, with cards processed in two weeks, making this initiative accessible and practical.
UGM offers financial support through collaborations with Mandiri Kredit Serbaguna Mikro (KSM) and CICIL, a financing platform. These initiatives provide education loans with low-interest rates starting at 0.5% per month, repayable over ten years, helping students cover tuition and other academic needs. These programs ensure students facing financial hardship can continue their education smoothly.
Scholarship Programs
- UGM Accepts 6715 KIP Kuliah Students and “Adik” Program of Papuans to Children of Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI)
- Accommodating 6700 Poor Students, UGM Forms Moral Responsibility
UGM’s scholarship programs are vital for promoting educational equity, particularly for low-income students and those from 3T regions like Papua and children of migrant workers. The university supports these students through government initiatives such as Kartu Indonesia Pintar (KIP-Kuliah) and Afirmasi Pendidikan Tinggi (ADik). Through these initiatives, UGM has accepted 6,715 students with full tuition coverage and living expenses based on local cost indices. In response to reduced government quotas, UGM has sought additional funding from alumni networks, benefiting 18.52% of its student population..
UGM offers scholarships supported by partners, specifically Bank Indonesia, PT Indomegah Sehat, and OCBC NISP Syariah, aimed at high-achieving and financially needy students. In March 2023, the university distributed six scholarship programs for undergraduates.
Further, UGM partners with PT Musi Hutan Persada to provide employment-linked scholarships, such as the Beasiswa Ikatan Kerja. This scholarship covers full tuition for the 7th and 8th semesters and offers monthly living expenses, along with a job guarantee upon graduation. This program links education to future career opportunities, providing students with financial support and job security.
Ongoing Zakat-Based Assistance and Volunteering
The PTH scholarship and Relawan Batch 30 program offers living allowances through three scholarship levels while engaging students in zakat distribution activities. Participants also receive transportation stipends, promoting community involvement alongside academic support.
Scholarship Distribution and Tuition Fee Reductions
- 18 Thousand UGM Students Receive Education Scholarship Funds
- UGM Remains Committed to Providing Scholarships to Students
Over the past five years, UGM has distributed approximately Rp206 billion annually in financial aid. This financial support ensures that economic challenges do not hinder students’ educational progress. Additionally, UGM reduces tuition fees below the official cost through tuition fee (Uang Kuliah Tunggal/UKT) adjustments. This significant financial aid investment reflects UGM’s commitment to reducing economic barriers and fostering academic success. The university’s holistic approach ensures all students, regardless of financial background, have the necessary resources and support to pursue their studies and contribute to their communities.
