UGM had deployed its students to carry out the 4th period of the SCS-CEL program in 2020. The ceremony was held on Saturday (19/12) online via the Zoom platform, and broadcast live via the YouTube channel kknugm.yogyakarta.
Prof. Ir. Irfan Dwidya Prijambada, M.Eng., Ph.D., UGM Director of Community Service, explained that the total number of students who carried out SCS for this period was 677 people. All faculties, including the Vocational School, participated for this period, except the Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing (FKKMK) UGM.
In this SCS period, Irfan stated that the students were divided into 29 units spread over four provinces, namely the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY), Central Java, East Java, and East Kalimantan. DIY is the province with the largest distribution units, consisting of 17 units, and Central Java with ten units. East Java and East Kalimantan provinces have one unit each, with the exact location in Magetan Regency and Kutai Kartanegara Regency.
Furthermore, Irfan explained that before being deployed last Saturday, the students participating in SCS had received briefings on October 20, 2020. Then, they also conducted a general test on November 2-10, 2020. Consolidation between units and Field Supervisor was also carried out on 27 November 2020. The last agenda before this deployment was a briefing between the Unit Coordinator, Unit Treasurer, Sub-unit Coordinator representatives, and Cluster Coordinator representatives on December 4, 2020.
After this deployment, Irfan said the students would carry out their programs online in their respective regions for the next 50 days. It is from the day of the deployment yesterday until February 6, 2021.
drg. Ika Dewi Ana, M.Kes., Ph.D., UGM Vice-Rector for Research and Community Service, expressed her gratitude to the various parties involved, from Field Supervisor, Regional Coordinator, partners, to the staff of Directorate of Community Service UGM. She revealed that implementing SCS-CEL UGM during this period could run smoothly for their dedication.
Finally, Ika advised the students who participated in the Community Service Program. Even though they did not often meet or even could not meet face-to-face, they still needed to learn from the community they served. Because from the community, students can learn about real-life after college. According to her, students cannot get this lesson from the previous lecture material.
“Take care of your health, both for yourself, your teammates, and with whom you interact during the SCS implementation. Work as good as possible, but still base everything on devoting ourselves to God Almighty,” she concluded while opening the implementation of the 4th period of SCS-CEL UGM 2020.
The event continued with a procession of acceptance of SCS-CEL UGM students symbolically by representatives from partners. The representative was Muhammad Umar Said, S.Hut., MPP M.Eng, from the Regional Planning Agency (Bappeda) of Klaten Regency.
