Two study programs at the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM have received recognition from the German international accreditation agency, ASIIN. The two study programs are the Pharmacy undergraduate study program and Master of Clinical Pharmacy study program.
“ASIIN has internationally accredited Pharmacy Undergraduate Study Program and Clinical Pharmacy Masters Study Program since July 2020,” said the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM, Prof. Apt., Agung Endro Nugroho, M.Sc., Ph.D., when delivering the Dean’s Annual Report at the Open Senate Meeting of the 74th Anniversary of the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM which was held online on Tuesday (29/9).
Obtaining international accreditation shows that the quality of education and teaching has met international standards. Agung said that since 2017, the Pharmacy undergraduate study program had implemented an Outcome-Based Education (OBE) system and led to the Pharmacist Profession.
In the 2017 curriculum, there was an update of learning methods characterized by integrating soft skills. Extracurricular activities are integrated into the curriculum as many as four credits. Meanwhile, exposure to global competencies in the form of co-curricular activities of 7 credits includes character education, English language skills, English for pharmacy, leadership and ethics, professionalism, public speaking, and socio-entrepreneurship.
“In 2020, the UGM Pharmacy Undergraduate Study Program is preparing to adjust the implementation of the 2017 curriculum with the Independent Learning Campus policy from the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture,” he explained.
In addition to education, Agung also submitted reports on achievements in the last year in other fields. They are in research, publications, finance, human resources and assets, community service, and cooperation.
After submitting the dean’s report, on that occasion also delivered a scientific oration by the President Director of PT. Kimia Farma, Verdi Budidarmo. He presented a scientific oration related to the strategic role of pharmacists in the industry in the era of industrial revolution 4.0.
