UGM Student Community Service-Community Empowerment Learning (SCS-CEL) on June 29, 2020, was officially launched online via live streaming on Youtube. The JT-314 unit was one of the hundreds of units participating in the event.
Since then, JT-314 had officially implemented SCS-CEL in Karangtengah District, Demak Regency. This unit was divided into three subunits, with details of one sub-unit located in Tambakbulusan Village and the other two sub-units located in Wonowoso Village.
In previous years, SCS-CEL UGM was carried out by sending students to the field, but since the Covid-19 pandemic, SCS has been conducted online. Even so, those who participated in SCS remained enthusiastic, including Unit JT-314 in developing villages through the planned programs.
“We prove this with the main results of activities to overcome the problems faced by the village at once,” said Diyastri K H on Wednesday (19/8).
According to her, SCS in the village located in Demak Regency is a place that has various potentials and seems worthy of being called a hidden paradise. Tambakbulusan has Glagah Wangi Istambul Beach (Tambakbulusan Palace), which spoils the eyes and educates tourists.
“Ponds are an important part of Tambakbulusan Village. It is because most people depend on the existing ponds for their lives. Here also has culinary delights ready to pamper the tongue and several processed dishes, including milkfish and crab. Both are some of the many culinary delights in Tambakbulusan,” said Diastri.
She said the UGM SCS-CEL this time was the third in Tambakbulusan Village. 2018 was the first year the UGM SCS-CEL held in this village located in the Central Java Province, and the SCS team focused on building public trust.
Continuing in 2019, UGM SCS-CEL focused on building community-based tourism. Continued in 2020, the KKN team focused on building tourism by emphasizing eco-edutourism based on brand destinations.
“Various programs are present for this time. The two most important programs are optimizing the use of social media and the application of Sapta Pesona at Glagah Wangi Istambul Beach,” she explained.
Besides, the SCS-CEL team also created various types of programs, including design training, to improve the ability of tourism drivers in design and provide suggestions for policies for better tourism development.
Optimizing the application of Sapta Pesona to increase the synergy of tourism drives, including the socialization of health protocols in the New Normal era to the public to improve safety. Also, optimize the use of social media in tourism branding.
“Hopefully, our attempts in programs will support tourism after the pandemic. We also hope that many tourists who visit here have more than thirty-one types of mangroves as the largest in Central Java, and have been identified and recorded by the SCS team,” she explained.
Furthermore, Diastri explained that the entry of Glagah Wangi Beach as part of Istambul Tourism, which was nominated for the 2020 Indonesian Enchantment Award (API), is ready to work hard to win this award and become a tourist destination. The UGM SCS-CEL team, along with Village-Owned Company Istambul Karya and Karang Taruna Karangtengah District, attempted this effort. One form of effort made is by carrying out massive tourism promotions on social media of Tambakbulusan Village, Istambul Tourism, and the SCS team.
“Some of the social media are the Village Web (embakbulusan.desa.id), Facebook (BUMDes “Istambul Karya”), and Instagram (tambakbulusan, Pantai_glagahwangi, and kknugmkarangtengah). Hopefully, Glagah Wangi Beach can improve the village economy. Thus, we sincerely expect support from all parties,” she appealed.
