UGM through UGM STP, Innovative Academy, PT Gama Inovasi Berdikari (GIB), and Swaragama held an event entitled bertajuk “RISE! 1.0 | 101 Business: Learning to Unlearn”. This event had a talk show concept by inviting competent speakers from various fields each week. The event was held online via the Zoom platform and live streaming on the Swaragama FM Jogja Youtube channel.
RISE is an abbreviation of Resilience, Integrity, Scale Up, and Entrepreneural Mindset. These are the philosophies which would like to be built through the event toward its participants who are mostly entrepreneur.
Meanwhile, Learning to Unlearn means a will to leave the old mindset that is no longer relevant anymore. It applies to character development as an impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and toward the New. To welcome the New Normal, entrepreneurs must leave the old mindset they usually use and start producing new ideas relevant to the current conditions.
During the event on Wednesday (9/6), Muh. Sahli was invited as the speaker. He is the Chief at PT Reska Multi Usaha (RMU), a subsidiary of PT KAI (Persero). He became the speaker considering the event theme, entitled “Becoming A Game Changer: Fostering Creativity and Innovation in Business”.
Sahli said that his company is in charge of more than 14,000 employees throughout Indonesia. As a result of the emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic, their main business as a culinary service provider on trains and stations was forced to close. Although several businesses outside the station are still open, one of them is Loko Coffee Shop Malioboro, but their income has dropped dramatically due to the pandemic’s impact.
However, this did not necessarily make Sahli and his colleagues give up. He stated that his party would not lay off its employees. Finally, after much deliberation and thought, the idea emerged to go online. They call this online platform Lokomart Online. “We have a WA Center, Chatbot Tere (Teman Reska), Lokomart Application, and the lokomart.id site. We plan to build a Lokomart marketplace.
Sahli said it was not easy to go online. It is because many of their employees are over 45 years old and usually do cleaning on trains. Therefore, he said that it takes more effort to train them to operate this online service.
Responding to the news that the government would implement a new normal, Sahli said that his party is ready. He revealed that his party is willing to operate again on trains and stations when they are opened. He also said that his party is ready to follow health safety protocols, such as wearing masks, face shields, and gloves.
When asked about the continuation of Lokomart Online, Sahli said that the platform would be maintained even though the pandemic is over. “The platform is also our effort to adapt to current technological developments. So, we will continue to develop Lokomart Online, “he said.
Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Paripurna, SH., M.Hum., LL.M., UGM Vice Rector for Human Resources and Assets, welcomed the RISE 1.0 program. “UGM does not want to be a tailor. We want to be a leader or trendsetter, and for that, we must be willing to think outside the box. Therefore, we encourage students to challenge their future. We want to produce many new entrepreneurs. Thus, we can contribute more to the development of this nation”, he concluded.
