Center for Economic Democracy Studies (PSEK) in collaboration with Insist Press held a discussion and book launching “Petani dan Seni Bertani” (“Farmers and the Art of Farming” on Tuesday (11/2) at the Mubyarto Auditorium of the UGM Masters of Economic Development (MEP).

In this event, Ben White, researcher of Initiatives in Critical Agrarian Studies (ICAS), presented a critical perspective in agrarian studies. He also provided insight to understand the book and its relation to the book “Class Dynamics in Agrarian Change”.
“This book should be read because it helps to analyze the structure in changes of Indonesian farmer communities. It is also relevant for the future of agriculture and the struggle of Indonesian farmers,” he said.
Besides White, Qomarun Najmi from the Young Farmers School also came to this event. He presented his reflective views on the contents of “Farmers and Farming Arts” in relation to his practical experience in the farmer movement.
