A total of 60 Security Guard Service (PK4L) members from the main unit and work unit at UGM participated in Purba Jaga for 3 days, from Tuesday (11/5) to Thursday (7/11) in the Wanagama Education Forest, Playen, Gunung Kidul.
This activity was collaboration between PK4L UGM and the Yogyakarta Navy Base, in order to improve the ability and preparedness of personnel in carrying out their duties and responsibilities of safeguarding people, assets, activities, order, safety, occupational health, and protection around campus.
“Security and safety cannot always be replaced by technology, so this profession demands the presence of the body and mind,” said Head of PK4L UGM, Arif Nurcahyo, during the release ceremony which took place in the courtyard of Balairung.
The training is part of the collaboration that has been established between PK4L UGM and Yogyakarta Navy Base since 2017. At this event, 32 participants were members from the main unit, 4 members from the Vocational School, 3 members from the Faculty of Law, and 2 members each from the Faculties of Economics and Business, Philosophy, Psychology, Social and Political Sciences, Engineering, and the UGM Residence.
Meanwhile, the Graduate School, Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Faculty of Forestry, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, LPPT, Science Techno Park, Masters in Management, and University Club each sent one member.
“This is the third time we have held it as a form of cross-agency cooperation,” Arif added.
This training, he explained, would equip the participants with the necessary skills and knowledge. The hope, after completing the training is that the participants can be more proficient and ready to carry out daily tasks.
Major Yuhanit as the representative of the Yogyakarta Navy Base said that the time spent on this training was not much, so the participants should make the most of it.
He expected that there would be real results shown by the participants at the end of this 3-day activity.
