Under the UGM Statute, as stipulated in Government Regulation No. 67 of 2013 concerning the Statute of Universitas Gadjah Mada, the membership of the Board of Trustees (MWA) is 19 people, consisting of the Minister, Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono, Rector; the general public, namely community leaders totalling 6 (six) people and UGM alumni totalling 2 (two) people; and UGM community, namely Professors totaling 3 (three) people, non-Professor lecturers totaling 3 (three) people, education staff totaling 1 (one) person, and Students totaling 1 (one) person. Based on this division, each interest can be represented.
UGM has the Board of Trustees (MWA) as the highest institution that governs it. The procedure for selecting members of the Board of Trustees (MWA) is regulated under Rector’s Regulation Number 1 Year 2016.
The University also has an academic senate whose function is to set policy, provide recommendations, and supervise the educational community (Board of Trustees Number 3 Year 2021).
In Article 2, Paragraph 2 stated that “Members of the Academic Senate elected by virtue of office are as follows Rector and Vice Rector, Deans, Chair of the Faculty Senate, Chair of the School Senate, and Head of Library”.
In Article 2, Paragraph 4 stated that “ Members of the Academic Senate who are elected are representatives of the Faculty or School consisting of a representative of the Professor element and one non-professor lecturer representative”.
The Academic Senate that takes effect in 2023 also has representation through the UGM Community Elements (Non-Professor Lecturers). By considering several requirements that have been determined, there are 11 people for the election of interim members of the UGM Board of Trustees (MWA) UGM Community Elements (Lecturers not Professors) for the 2021-2026 period. The Academic Senate through the Ad hoc Committee for the election of members of the UGM Board of Trustees for the 2021-2026 period opened a selection of Candidates for Interim Members of the UGM Community Elements (Lecturers not Professors) from 20 August 2024 to 5 September 2024.
