UGM Allow remote working

UGM permits remote work for its employees and encourages telecommuting as outlined in the Rector’s Decree Number 825 of 2018. This policy has been enhanced by raising the blended learning portion from 20% to 40% per semester (Rector’s Decree Number 463 of 2019). Additionally, UGM has equipped its teaching staff with remote learning platforms to facilitate effective online instruction.

UGM offers a condensed workweek option, enabling employees to complete their standard working hours over fewer days. For example, employees may work four 10-hour days instead of the traditional five 8-hour days. This arrangement helps reduce the frequency of commuting, thereby decreasing transportation costs and environmental footprint. Employees should consult with their supervisors to determine the feasibility of a condensed workweek based on their specific roles and departmental requirements. Certain units encourage remote working by hiring new employees who agree to a Work From Home (WFH) arrangement and adhere to an output-focused work culture to achieve their work targets (PUI Directorate Employee Recruitment)
