UGM recognizes the KORPAGAMA employee corps which was established by the university to address the labour rights and needs of university staff.
The establishment of KORPAGMA was executed based on Rector’s Decree Number 392/UN1.P/SK/HUKOR//2018 on the Ratification of the Articles of Association of the Universitas Gadjah Mada Employee Corps. Page 1 states that “The Universitas Gadjah Mada Employees Corps is an organization formed by, from, and for the employees of Universitas Gadjah Mada.” In the attachments it is also stated that “By uniting in the Universitas Gadjah Mada Employees Corps, it is hoped that the Universitas Gadjah Mada employees can fulfill their duties while also receiving their rights in a fair and proportional manner.”
The corps has the freedom and responsibility to discuss their own bylaws, program plans, and management.
The KORPAGAMA assembly was held on Wednesday (October 12) at the UGM University Club

UGM also recognizes the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) Labor Union, known as SPF, which was established to address issues of welfare and workload inequality affecting lecturers, educational staff, and assistants. The union also aims to create a collective voice for solidarity.
For instance, one of the main driving factors in the establishment of SPF was the frustration and wish to change the Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform Regulation Number 1 of 2023 concerning Functional Positions, which burdens staff with heavy administrative tasks, research, and community service.
