UGM Vocational training events (lifelong learning)

The university hosts many events through executive education programmes in training, educating, and evaluating in many faculties. The Faculty of Law held the Internal Audit Training for Legal Entity State Universities with the UGM Internal Supervisory Unit to review their audit operational. The Faculty of Machine Engineering Vocational School held the “Periodic Service Small Excavator Competency Certification”. The event was funded by Indonesian Business Association Professional Certification Institute (LSP ABI). The Faculty of Dentistry held the Structured Dental Implant Education Training (PPIDT) programme that was legally and certified with its terms and conditions.

The Faculty of Medicine approached another way through the Center for Tropical Medicine UGM (CTR). TDR was proposed to run as a pilot scheme to incorporate a research grant into the MOOC Implementation Research (IR) training course. This enables participants in SEAR countries who have developed sound research letters of intent to put these research ideas into practice. They also share the idea through Tropmed Talk, it is similar to podcasts and makes it easier for the audience.

The health clusters exponent a lot of courses and training. The collaboration between The Department of Histology and Cell Biology, Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing, UGM, was conducting an ELISA and Flowcytometry Analysis Course. Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) is quantitative analysis method which shows antigen-antibody reaction through color change obtained by using enzyme-linked conjugates and enzyme substrates. The use of specific machines was also supported by the Faculty of Dentistry though 3-Dimensional Printing Technique Training for Biomedical Applications. In 2022, FKG UGM received a three-dimensional (3D) printing machine for biomedical dentistry purposes through the “Kedaireka” Matching Fund scheme.

Besides that, The Faculty of Medicine (FK-KMK) hosted the Primer Design Course about Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) using the PCR machine to identify the gene amplification or cloning, modification of DNA fragments, detection of pathogenic organisms, and analysis of archaeological samples.

In another perspective, FK-KMK with BKKBN has carried out the Signing of the PKS on the Development of a “Center of Excellence” for Rights-Based Comprehensive Family Planning Training. This activity aims to increase the role and contribution of BKKBN within the framework of the KSST (South-South and Triangular Cooperation) program and provide capacity for health workers from South-South countries in comprehensive rights-based family planning services. The cluster also cares about ethics in capacity building. FK-KMK came together with the Forum of Indonesian Recognized Research Ethics Committee (FIRREC) organized Training on Good Research Ethics Review: Initial and Post Approval Review.

On programmed basis

Since 2012, the University has provided the human development programme through the Learning and Development Center (LDC). LDC is a sub-unit managed by the Directorate of Human Resources of Universitas Gadjah Mada since 2012. LDC UGM focuses on the development of Human Resources within the UGM internal environment as well as from government agencies, private sector, community, and other mitra agencies. The main objective of LDC UGM is to improve the ability, knowledge, and skills of employees so that they can be more effective and productive. For example, employees receive training on host and protocol.

Besides that, The Faculty of Economics and Business UGM cooperates with several professional certification institutions both at national and overseas levels. Prospective participants can choose several professional fields. The faculty also provides for some courses related to supporting those programmes. At the magister level, the faculty also carries out activities in the form of training, assessment, research and publishing the GamaIJB journal and case books. They also organize some training for Certification Program.

The Programmed Training for Executives and Certified from Center for Transportation and Logistics Studies (PUSTRAL) actively held the yearly agenda due to specific training. PUSTRAL continuously organized the 17th batch of Basic Geographic Information System (GIS) Training. The mastery of GIS is still limited so that it requires improvement. In another training, PUSTRAL organized the Remote Pilot and Unmanned Aircraft System Operation Training for Mapping Batch 14 Year 2023. In the last three years, they managed the 3rd Batch of Spatial and Network Analysis (SNA) Training.

There were two kinds of the newest programme. First, they were managing the Distribution Training Batch 1. Second, they held the Transportation Planning and Modeling Training Batch 1. Both of the agenda aims to support the quality of transportation.

The University also supports the Programmed Training for Executives and Certified from Center for Environmental Studies (PSLH) related to Environmental Impact Analysis (AMDAL). PSLH held The 176th Basic EIA Training to support the government rules in Undang-Undang Nomor 32 Tahun 2009 about Environmental Protection and Management. In another agenda, PSLH held the opening of the EIA Appraisal training for Batch 89. The participants came from the private sector. They were also managed the 28th Environmental Auditor & 24th Environmental Management and Monitoring Reporting (EMPR)

The University also support the Programmed Training for Executives and Certified from Vocational Development Center (VDC). VDC organized the Certification of Marketing Communication Training to transfer knowledge about the strategy of marketing and communication in creative ways. In order to support the online facilitation, they arranged the Optimization of Google Work Space for Administration Training.

The University provided several programmes such as the Programmed Training for Executives and Certified from Integrated Research and Testing Laboratory (LPPT), Programmed Training for Executives and Certified from Magister Ekonomika Pembangunan and almost 10.000 participants joined the programme from different affiliation, and Programmed Training for Executives and Certified from Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing. The university has been successfully Certified Remote Pilot Drone Training Provider in Indonesia.

Adhoc - Community Services

UGM is located in Sleman District where solid waste has become a major problem due to some changes in the management of district landfills. The amount of domestic solid waste contributes directly to greenhouse gas emissions. This impact is not yet well socialised and therefore, it has become the goal of a workshop conducted by the graduate school of Environmental Studies. In the workshop..
