The alumni of the UGM Faculty of Engineering (KATGAMA) held a Covid-19 vaccination at Silol Kopi & Eatery on Saturday (14/8) and broadcast it live on the KATGAMA 2021 youtube channel.
This vaccination was carried out in collaboration with the DIY Regional Police, the Faculty of Medicine, Public Health and Nursing (FKKMK), the Faculty of Dentistry, the UGM Faculty of Pharmacy, and the Loro Blonyo Community with a target of 900 people.
Agus Priyatno, General Chair of KATGAMA, explained that the spread of the Covid-19 virus has hampered economic activities, and the impact on the decline in social welfare levels is increasingly felt by the community. Without the joint efforts of all elements of society and the government in solving the problem of Covid-19, the socio-economic impact will be much worse in the future.
After seeing the real impact of Covid-19 on society, KATGAMA made a social activist movement in the form of “KATGAMA Peduli dan Berbagi Untuk Negeri.”
Currently, Agus said, KATGAMA fully supports accelerating vaccination in Yogyakarta. KATGAMA views that accelerated vaccination is necessary to achieve herd immunity. The speed and success of vaccination will determine efforts to recover the national economy, considering that after the establishment of herd immunity, the community’s economy will move again in line with the opening of community mobility.
“In Yogyakarta, KATGAMA’s activities related to the Covid-19 pandemic were initiated by assisting hospitals for Sardjito and the UGM Academic Hospital, followed by vaccinations that have been and will be held in various places,” explained Agus on Saturday (14/8).
Dr. Hera Nirwati, Deputy Dean for Finance, Assets, and Human Resources of UGM FKKMK, added that vaccinations in Yogyakarta had previously been held at Jogya Gallery, Tembi, SMPN 12 for residents of Bumijo Village on (7/8), Condong Catur Village on (10/08) with 1000 participants, Joglo PPBI Sekar Jagad on (11/8), and at Silol Kopi & Eatery on Saturday (14/8).
“The vaccination will be expanded to the areas of Gunung Kidul, Kulon Progo, and Bantul. Collaboration between KATGAMA, POLDA DIY, FKKMK, FKG and the Faculty of Pharmacy and the Loro Blonyo Community synergize quickly to realize a healthy Indonesia as soon as possible,” she said.
Prof. Panut Mulyono, UGM Chancellor, highly appreciated the vaccination carried out by KATGAMA.
“On behalf of UGM, we congratulate KATGAMA and all UGM alumni with their motto guyub, rukun, migunani. It’s not just a slogan, but it showed through activities that are beneficial to society. And currently, our top priority is how we deal with the pandemic together, simultaneously recovering by reviving the community’s economic life. We hope that community activities can go hand in hand with the decline in the Covid-19 pandemic,” he concluded.
