Technological advances that change human life in many ways. The internet is now starting to become an inseparable part of human interaction. Likewise, the development of industries that are now developing automation technology with cyber technology. The emergence of various digital business platforms such as shops and motorcycle taxis is one of the markers of the start of industry 4.0. Utilization of Information Technology is a requirement for business. The development of industry and cooperatives became an introduction to the historical background of social inequality due to the Industrial Revolution in 1770 in England. High inequality between workers and owners of capital gave rise to the idea of making a business based on the spirit of togetherness. Until finally in 1844 the first modern cooperative was established in the city of Rochdale, England. Since the success of the Rochdale Cooperative, many cooperatives have sprung up all over the world until now.
The Indonesian economy is structured based on the principle of kinship and the building that suits it is cooperative. According to Bung Hatta, understanding Indonesian cooperatives created a collective society rooted in native customs but could be grown according to the demands of the modern era. This development then gave rise to “surveillance capitalism” which carried out the commodification of human behavior data which can now be obtained very easily. So now most people are exploited by their behavior for the benefit of investors.
Cooperative Platform is a solution to the exploitation of personal information. The idea is to create a digital platform where each user can control the data collected. The topic of cooperative platforms is indeed fairly new. The cooperative business which is known to be stiff and old-fashioned turns out to be able to run following the times. Cooperatives are not just savings and loans or parent organizations. But judging from its principles, cooperatives can be realized in a broader effort. Through his statement, the two speakers have implemented several cooperative principles such as independence, education for members, and concern for the community in running their business. This shows that there are some startup activists who have a cooperative spirit. So it is not impossible that later cooperatives that are considered old-fashioned can become contemporary cooperatives.
