UGM Sends 60 Students for Period 1 KKN

UGM sent 60 KKN students to Kulon Progo and Bantul. The official send-off of KKN students was carried out by the Vice Chancellor for Research and Community Service, drg. Ika Dewi Ana, M.Kes., Ph.D., at the office yard of the Directorate of Community Service, Thursday (12/3).

Secretary of the Directorate of Community Service, Dr. Rachmawan Budiarto, said that the 60 KKN students would later be placed in the villages of Hargowilis, Hargotirto, Hargorejo, Kalirejo, and Kokap in Kulon Progo. Meanwhile, in Bantul, they will be in Pendowoharjo and Timbulharjo Villages, Sewon.

“They will be stationed at that location starting today until April 30th,” said Rachmawan.

He added that the theme raised in this period’s Community Service Program was the development of tourism potential in the Sermo Reservoir and improving community welfare through Kampung KB.

On this occasion, Ika Dewi Ana explained about the exemplary role of the first UGM Rector, Sardjito, who fought for Indonesia. Ika also advised students to always be learners who are always humble in gaining knowledge, especially during KKN.

After the KKN transfer, a collaboration was signed between UGM and the Government Investment Center (PIP). Present on the occasion, was the President Director of PIP, Ririn Kadariyah. In his speech, Ririn appreciated one of UGM’s area of excellence, in their community service programs and one of them is through this KKN program.

“This is a real application to participate in helping improve the welfare of the community,” said Ririn.

Ririn hopes that this collaboration can help the development and community empowerment in various regions, especially in Yogyakarta. This activity is also expected to expand information about access to finance through UMi (ultra-micro) financing and increase the number of locations and recipients of UMi.
