The university has arranged many Community Service Programs (KKN). Last year, more than 7.000 students joined the KKN PPM from 19 faculties spreading to serve 31 provinces, 97 districts, 204 sub-districts, and more than 400 villages across Indonesia. In 2024, almost 7.200 students joined the KKN PPM spreading to serve 35 provinces, 124 districts and 229 sub-districts.
The university continues to expand its Community Service Programs (KKN), empowering thousands of students to contribute directly to communities across Indonesia. Last year, more than 7,000 students from 19 faculties took part in KKN PPM, reaching 31 provinces, 97 districts, 204 sub-districts, and over 400 villages. Building on this momentum, in 2024 nearly 7,200 students joined the program, extending their service even further, this time to 35 provinces, 124 districts, and 229 sub-districts nationwide.
The UGM Community Service Program team provides off-campus educational outreach by implementing a number of educational programs for the community. These activities are spread across Indonesia. In Bangka Belitung, West Kalimantan, for example, the program takes the form of socialization covering several aspects of specific fields of study, such as animal husbandry. The animal husbandry aspect introduces the Mineral Block to farmers in South Bangka Regency. This agenda contributes to SDG 2 No Poverty, especially Target 2.3 on agricultural productivity and food producer income through knowledge and technology.
Education is carried out across various clusters, such as Social Humanities, Agriculture, Science and Technology, and Medicine. The Social Humanities cluster provides education in the form of an English language education program in Malaringgi Village, Southeast Sulawesi. In addition, the “Reading Corner” project is also being implemented in Bunaken, Manado, North Sulawesi. In Banjarnegara, students conduct interactive education through pop-up books for elementary school children. This empowerment of knowledge is an initiative by students for school children to strengthen their linguistic knowledge. The Medika Cluster conducts a number of early education programs for children. One of them is socializing the proper way to wash hands and the Handrub method using hand sanitizer by the KKN PPM team in Purwodadi, Banjarnegara.

the National Resilience Study Program (Tannas)
The university actively engages in educational outreach through community service initiatives. One example is a collaborative program between the Pediatric Dentistry Specialist Program at the Faculty of Dentistry and PT Pagilaran in Batang, Central Java. This strategic partnership leverages local resources to strengthen the impact of community service activities. By combining academic expertise with community-based support, the program not only promotes children’s health but also seeks to create lasting benefits and greater public awareness for the future.
UGM’s community service is also reflected in the National Resilience Study Program (Tannas)., which in 2024 is being implemented in Pakunden Village, Ngluwar District, Magelang Regency. This year’s Tannas PKM activities are designed around two main focuses: Village Community Service and School Community Service at SMK Ma’arif 1 Ngluwar.
UGM, in collaboration with the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs, launched the Mikro Mandiri 2024 program to boost the competitiveness and growth of Indonesian MSMEs. Since April 2024, 2,578 MSMEs from sectors such as culinary, fashion, creative economy, agriculture, and tourism have participated.
