UGM operates several University-Owned Housing which fall under the management of the UGM Residence Office. The university offers these affordable housing options to UGM employees as a means to support employee welfare, as stipulated in Rector Regulation Number 7 Year 2017. The regulation outlines provisions regarding the management, use, and maintenance of official housing provided by UGM for UGM faculty and staff. It serves to ensure that university-owned housing is managed efficiently and utilized according to its intended purpose.
Providing housing directly
One of the employee housing buildings is the Kinanti Residence 4, an apartment building for UGM’s teaching staff that was donated by the Indonesian Ministry of Public Works and Housing. The building was constructed in 2022 and is located within the Kinanti residential hall at Barek RT12 RW57, Sinduadi, Mlati, Sleman, Yogyakarta 55284.
The apartment building boasts 136 units, divided into three types:
- Family: 40 units
- Single: 86 units
- Accessible: 10 units
All unit types are fully-furnished and include: a bed, dining table, coffee table, wardrobe, kitchen, and en-suite bathroom. Additional building facilities provided are public Wi-Fi, a prayer room (mushola), a shared lounge, elevators on every floor, and 24-hour security.
Providing financial support
UGM offers employees several employee credit programs; a low-interest loan with flexible terms to assist in purchasing land, building homes, or renovating existing properties. It aims to enhance the welfare of UGM staff by facilitating homeownership and improving living conditions.
There are several options available: the UGM Employee Housing Credit Program from Bank UGM, the UGM Employee Housing Credit Program from BTN Bank, and the Multipurpose Credit with Low Interest from Mandiri Bank Mandiri.
