UGM SDG 4 REPORT:

ENSURE INCLUSIVE AND EQUITABLE QUALITY EDUCATION, PROMOTE LIFELONG LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES FOR ALL

“FREE ACCESS TO EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES AT UGM: COURSES, FACILITIES, AND TRAINING PROGRAMS”

Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) is committed to providing free access to educational resources through various initiatives, including Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), library services, and training programs. The implementation of MOOCs supports UGM’s Strategic Plan 2022-2027 and aligns with the Indonesian government’s regulations on quality assurance in higher education (Permendikbud Ristek No.52 from 2023). These online courses cover diverse topics, such as business, health, politics, and digital transformation, making them accessible to individuals outside the university community.

The eLOK platform at UGM offers courses created by faculty members, such as those from FK-KMK and FISIPOL, enhancing the learning experience through quality modules and videos. Furthermore, FISIPOL has established facilities like the Digital Intelligence Class to support free education on Artificial Intelligence (AI), demonstrating UGM’s commitment to the Merdeka Belajar initiative. The three progressive stages of AI learning facilitate a comprehensive understanding of the subject.

UGM also fosters talent development through the Gelanggang Inovasi & Kreativitas (GIK), which provides significant opportunities for students to enhance their soft and hard skills. Additionally, UGM has collaborated with various faculties to offer business management training that aims to bolster Indonesia’s food sovereignty, successfully engaging over 100 farmers.

“FREE ACCESS TO UGM LIBRARY: A HUB FOR KNOWLEDGE AND RESEARCH”

UGM’s library offers open access to a vast collection of educational resources, including textbooks, scientific works, theses, and dissertations. The Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) enables users to easily locate these resources, and the library continually expands its offerings with electronic theses, journals, and e-resources. Notably, the Koleksi Langka provides an online repository of rare collections, further enriching the academic resources available to the public.
The Tourism Study Center Library at UGM serves as a vital resource for those interested in tourism studies, hosting workshops and providing relevant literature to support various research activities. UGM also facilitates access to research tools through its Main Library website, ensuring students, staff, and faculty can easily conduct quality research.

“UGM'S FREE PUBLIC EDUCATIONAL EVENTS: LECTURES, WEBINARS, AND WORKSHOPS”

UGM organizes numerous free-access educational events, including general public lectures, webinars, and workshops. These events cover a wide array of topics, such as economic development, gender equality, and agricultural innovations, and are open to individuals from various backgrounds. Noteworthy discussions have featured prominent figures, such as the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs, fostering a culture of dialogue and knowledge-sharing.
Webinars conducted by UGM address pressing issues, including sustainable healthcare, digital supply networks, and mental health awareness. These sessions aim to educate and engage attendees, providing valuable insights on important topics.
In addition, UGM hosts seminars and workshops that focus on technology, sustainability, and health issues, inviting participants from diverse fields to share their expertise. The university’s commitment to fostering knowledge exchange helps drive innovation and collaboration among students, researchers, and industry professionals.

“UGM'S EXECUTIVE EDUCATION AND VOCATIONAL TRAINING PROGRAMS: LIFELONG LEARNING FOR THE PUBLIC”

UGM supports lifelong learning through various certificate programs and vocational training initiatives. The Faculty of Law and Faculty of Machine Engineering, among others, offer specialized training sessions that equip participants with valuable skills and knowledge. The Faculty of Medicine’s Center for Tropical Medicine also engages in international collaborations, providing research grant opportunities that promote practical learning experiences.
The Learning and Development Center (LDC) at UGM focuses on enhancing human resources by offering training tailored to various sectors, including government and private organizations. These initiatives emphasize UGM’s dedication to continuous professional development and capacity building.

“UGM'S EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH: COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AND STUDENT-LED INITIATIVES”

The university’s Community Service Programs (KKN) involve thousands of students working across Indonesia to promote sustainability and address local issues. Initiatives include waste sorting education, health awareness campaigns, and environmental education, all aimed at fostering community engagement and improving quality of life.
Moreover, student-led outreach programs, such as “Dental Hero,” aim to enhance oral hygiene among children in local schools, demonstrating UGM’s commitment to social responsibility and community health.

“UGM'S EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH: COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AND STUDENT-LED INITIATIVES”

UGM’s commitment to inclusivity is reflected in its policies, which ensure equal access to education regardless of ethnicity, religion, disability, or gender. The Rector’s Regulations emphasize the importance of developing curricula that cater to diverse learners, promoting creativity, innovation, and critical thinking.
The university’s Strategic Plan 2022-2027 reinforces its dedication to social justice, equality, and sustainability, ensuring that all individuals have the opportunity to benefit from quality education and lifelong learning.
