UGM Cross sectoral dialogue about SDGs

UGM has organised a number of seminars/dialogues with the government and/or NGOs that specifically address policy. The following is an agenda related to the field of law and technology.

The Faculty of Law UGM organised a discussion with the theme ‘Empirical Study of Monitoring and Review of Law Number 30 Year 2014 on Government Administration’ (Faculty of Law UGM and DPD RI Discuss Government Administration Law). This event brought together various stakeholders, including academia, policymakers, and members of the Regional Representative Council (DPD RI), to evaluate the effectiveness and practical application of the Government Administration Law. The primary output of this dialogue was a set of recommendations aimed at improving the Government Administration Law (UU AP). These improvements were intended to enhance transparency, accountability, and efficiency within government operations, aligning the law with current governance challenges and ensuring better public service delivery.

The University, through the Research Centre for Politics and Government (PolGov) in collaboration with the Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD) Indonesia, held a national seminar entitled ‘Job Creation Legislation: Initiating Solutions to Legal Problems and Potential Impacts of Law Implementation’ (Job Creation Legislation). This collaboration from academia, government, civil society, and international organisations has allowed for a comprehensive review of the legislative process of Law No. 11 of 2020 on Job Creation (Job Creation Law), integrating legal, political, and socio-economic dimensions. The review also looks at the potential and impact of its implementation within the framework of Post-Legislative Scrutiny (PLS).

The Faculty of Forestry UGM held the International Seminar collaborating with the Perum Perhutani and Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS) aimed at addressing challenges related to clonal teak plantations and sustainable forest management in Monsoon Forest areas. Information regarding the activity can be found in PRESS RELEASE International Seminar “Improving the Clonal Teak Plantation for Sustainable Management of Monsoon Forest”.

UGM Vocational School Holds National Seminar on Applied Technology 2023. The Seminar aims to provide a platform for stakeholders in the vocational field to share ideas, collaborate, and create synergies in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This seminar accommodates various disciplines of applied sciences that synergise with each other. The grouping of scientific fields is divided into 4, namely: Sociohumanities, Science and Technology, Agrotechnology, and Health (National Seminar on Applied Technology 2023).
