UGM Champions Gender Equality in Graduation Rates

UGM consistently tracks gender equality in the graduation rates. Relevant units (i.e. University Quality Assurance and Reputation Unit) in UGM now have access to monitor the diversity of the university community (see Figure 1 and Figure 2 ), including ensuring that women are represented equally. The Data Mart dashboard enables easy monitoring of the metrics. The dataset available is not only the number of graduates for each graduation period but also other student data, tracking the number of women registered for each semester. Therefore, the graduation success rate is easily observed. It is observed that there is a higher percentage of female graduates compared to male graduates, with women comprising over 54% of each graduating class (Women predominate among UGM graduates). This statistic underscores the university’s success in fostering an environment where women can thrive academically.

Indirect measurement of women’s likelihood of graduating compared to men’s is also using a list of participants on several occasions provided for fresh graduates. Several of these activities are the Integrated Career Days 2023, the UGM Integrated Career Days 2023, and the SV UGM Career Days. There are 22 industries collaborating in the SV UGM Career Day, which were ready to become employers for fresh graduates and also hosting vocational training for students at the end of their study year.
