UGM Public access to libraries

Universitas Gadjah Mada is committed to providing public information services in accordance with the mandate of Law Number 14 of 2008 on Public Information Disclosure. To implement these services, the Rector issued the Rector’s Decree of Universitas Gadjah Mada Number 1394/UN1.P/SK/HUKOR/2018 regarding Information and Documentation Management at Universitas Gadjah Mada.

The Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) Library offers a wide range of services and resources, making it a hub of knowledge accessible to both the UGM community and the general public. Through its Central Library, individuals outside UGM can access various materials and facilities at affordable rates. Among its notable services are access to collections of theses, dissertations, and research outputs authored by UGM academics, providing valuable resources for researchers and students. Open-access e-resources further extend the library’s reach, offering free academic materials for broader audiences.

UGM also supports scholarly writing through comprehensive citation guides and tools such as Mendeley and Zotero, which are available to the public. Anti-plagiarism guidelines ensure academic integrity, supporting users in producing ethical and high-quality work. Specialised libraries, such as those for Environmental Studies, Cultural Studies, Tourism, and Population and Policy Studies, are accessible for free, providing focused collections on specific disciplines.

The library’s role extends to supporting sustainability and tourism through its niche collections, enhancing its relevance to diverse fields. Additionally, UGM collaborates with the Indonesian Journal of Biotechnology (IJBiotech), a quarterly open-access journal covering a range of biotechnology topics, further enriching its academic contributions.

UGM Library’s commitment to public access and diverse services reflects its dedication to fostering education and research while promoting knowledge sharing within and beyond the academic community. Its extensive resources make it an essential destination for learning and exploration.
