Building a More Equitable Future: UGM’s Commitment to Women’s Rights

Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) is committed to fostering an inclusive and equitable environment, explicitly prohibiting discrimination against women. This commitment is articulated through several key policies and initiatives: this contributes to any specific things about sustainability.

1. Trustee Board’s Regulations

Strategic Plan 2022-2027: Outlined in Board of Trustees Regulations Number 1 Year 2023, UGM guarantees a campus environment that is safe, comfortable, and free from sexual violence, bullying, mental health issues, and discrimination. The plan emphasises inclusivity and friendliness towards individuals with disabilities.

Strategic Plan 2017-2022: As per Board of Trustees Regulations Number 1 Year 2020, UGM is dedicated to developing an inclusive campus that upholds anti-discrimination principles based on race, ethnicity, gender, marital status, disability, age, religion, and minority group status.

2. Rector’s Regulations

UGM maintains standards of human values and dignity, protecting the university community from all forms of sexual violence. This is stipulated in Rector’s Regulation Number 1 Year 2020 and updated in Rector’s Regulation Number 1 Year 2023 Rector’s Regulation Number 1 Year 2023.

Rector’s Regulation Number 3 Year 2023, amended by Rector’s Regulation Number 4 Year 2023, ensures that the admission of new students is conducted fairly, providing open opportunities without distinction of ethnicity, religion, race, or inter-group affiliations.

3. Employment Policies

Rector’s Regulation Number 18 Year 2016 on Human Resource Management mandates non-discrimination in the workplace, regardless of gender, ethnicity, religion, race, or group affiliation.

Through these comprehensive policies and initiatives, UGM actively promotes gender equality and ensures a non-discriminatory environment for all members of its community.
