  1. Bapelitbang of Sikka Regency establishes research cooperation with UGM Vocational School

The scope of cooperation activities includes general planning and technical planning of research and development activities, particularly for the preparation of the Review Document of the Master Plan for Drinking Water Supply System (RISPAM) of Sikka Regency Year 2015 – 2035 and the Preparation of Master Plan Document for Urban Drainage System of Sikka Regency Year 2023 – 2048.

  1. Pompengan Jembereng River Basin

Agricultural and Biosystem Engineering UGM and the Directorate of Water Resources of the Pompengan Jembereng River Basin conducted training on Irrigation Modernization and Use of Decision Support Applications in Pamukkulu Irrigation Area.

  1. UGM and Banggai Regency Agree to Cooperate on Water Resources and Geopark Management

The Banggai Regency Government and Universitas Gadjah Mada have agreed to a cooperation agreement in education, research, and community service. The agreement is related to urban water resources; he said Banggai Regency needs this cooperation because it has enormous potential. This is important to overcome the problem of people who often lack water.

  1. Civil Engineering Department of UGM Vocational School Inaugurates Cooperation with Serayu Opak River Basin Center

The signing of the Cooperation Agreement (PKS) aims to strengthen the long-established cooperation in Education, Research, and Community Service in Water Resources between the Department of Civil Engineering and the Department of Earth Technology with the Serayu Opak River Basin Center (BBWS SO).

  1. FTP UGM and PUPR Ministry Develop Smart Irrigation Management Pilot Project

The Faculty of Agricultural Technology UGM and the Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) collaborate in developing an IoT-based Smart Irrigation Water Management pilot project. The Smart Irrigation Water Management pilot project is a promising first step towards realising a smarter and more sustainable irrigation system in Indonesia.

  1. Ministry of Environment and Forestry (MoEF) Intensifies Cooperation with Faculty of Geography UGM, Minister of MoEF Water Resources and Land Resources Policy Equally Important

Minister of Environment and Forestry (LHK) Siti Nurbaya emphasised that the water resources policy is as important as the land resources policy. The Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) has developed strong policy tools in land resource management, the latest being the FOLU Net Sink 2030. Water resources policy needs to be strengthened by the UN-Water Summit on Groundwater 2022 held on 7-11 December, 2022, in Paris, which affirmed the need to implement integrated water resources management for more responsible and sustainable use and protection of groundwater, springs and surface water. The Faculty of Geography conveyed the strategic value of karst ecosystems, an area that is a supplier and reservoir of water for domestic use.

  1. Joint Studio Development with Queensland

In 2023, there was an International Joint Studio Development Complexities (Interest of Urban and Rural) programme between Universitas Gadjah Mada and the University of Queensland (UQ), Australia. The urban group studied many urban issues in Yogyakarta in collaboration with the Kalijawi community. The urban group studied sanitation and clean water issues in the Code River. The rural group studied irrigation systems, agriculture, and water budget issues in Ngoro-Oro hamlet, Giriasih, Purwosari, and Gunung Kidul Regency.

  1. World Water Forum: Sustainable Support for World Water and Sanitation Governance

The World Water Forum is the largest international forum in the water sector involving various stakeholders in the water resources sector and has been held every 3 (three) years since 1997. This forum is attended by various countries from all levels and fields, including politics, multilateral institutions, academia, civil society, and the private sector. The Board of Governors of the 77th World Water Council, which was held in March 2022 in Dakar, the capital of Senegal, West Africa, has chosen Bali, Indonesia, as the venue for the 10th World Water Forum, which was held on 18-25th May 2024.
