One of the UGM SCS-CEL Teams served in Biak Numfor for 51 days. Although the SCS was conducted online, the UGM student team solved every problem and created an innovative design in various fields.
From the tourism division, the Biak Numfor SCS student team succeeded in combining mastery of digital technology with theoretical studies and strategic analysis by producing tourism applications and websites. This tourism website can be accessed through http://biakelok.com/.
“The application and website contain tourism information in Biak Numfor Regency which is classified by district, tourism accessibility ranging from tourism promotion, accommodation and so on,” said Meha Middlyne Simbolon, representative of the UGM Biak 2020 SCS-CEL Team, code PA012, on Tuesday (25/8), at the UGM Campus.
The government division also carried out website creation. The website created by UGM students is intended for Anggaduber Village to facilitate the service process to rural communities. The website can be accessed via https://desaanggaduber.wixsite.com/mysite.
Meha Simbolon explained that each division of the UGM Community Service Program in Biak Numfor designed the module as reference material and a recommendation for the Biak Numfor Regional Government. Such as the module for developing the tourism potential of the cultural path contains a guide to the Analysis of Operation Areas for Natural Tourism Attractions (ADOODTWA), which refers to the 2003 PHKA Director General’s guidebook.
Next is the Tourist Information Center (TIC Design) made by the infrastructure division. This guide can certainly be implemented at Frans Kaisepo Airport.
“The module contains design strategies using visuals and auditive to increase the tourism attractiveness of Biak Numfor,” he explained.
Furthermore, Meha Simbolon explained that the UGM Biak 2020 SCS-CEL team is also concerned about the current Covid-19 pandemic. This concern was manifested in several work programs to prevent and procure several facilities for the community to avoid the Covid-19 transmission.
Some of the products include a new normal protocol module. With this module, many things are explained in detail, the things that need to be considered when entering the new normal.
“We call it nutrition tips, for example, so that people pay attention to body health, education on balanced nutrition, the introduction of the use of cloth masks to prevent Covid-19. Meanwhile, to support the economic sector of rural communities, guidelines for the use of the Village-Owned Company accounting information system application for financial management and marketing are issued through social media.

The virtual museum display is equipped with a back sound of the Biak folk song, which certainly gives its nuance for visitors. In addition, there are six editions of the podcast “Biak Talks” that discuss tourism and governance in Biak Numfor Regency through resource persons who are seen as inspirational figures who work directly to serve the community.
