Gadjah Mada University launched a book titled “Transition of Community-Based Energy in Isles and Remote Areas” at Aryaduta Hotel, Jakarta on November 21, 2019. This book is the result of learning from the study of “Social Studies and Techniques Regarding Renewable Energy” in Nusa Penida (Bali ), Semau (East Nusa Tenggara), Wakatobi (Southeast Sulawesi) and Gorontalo (Gorontalo) for one year. This book was composed by authors from four institutions at UGM, namely the Directorate of Research to the Community (DPKM), the Center for Energy Studies (PSE). Vocational School, and Youth Studies Center (YOUSURE) Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL).
The importance of community participation in maintaining the sustainability of renewable energy systems. Active citizen participation is the key to the sustainability of one of the biogas programs initiated by the Ministry of Rural Development and Transmigration of the Republic of Indonesia.
This study was also carried out with the collaboration of Local Non-Government Organizations (NGOs), namely the Wisnu Foundation (Bali), Pikul Association (East Nusa Tenggara), the Kahedupa Toudani Forum (Wakatobi), and the Natural Resource Management Advocacy Network (Gorontalo). The book launching event was also attended by UNDP Indonesia’s Senior Program Manager Anton Sri Probiyantono, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Gorontalo District Government, Boalemo District Government, Bone Bolango District Government, Head of Macro Division of Regional Development Planning Agency ( Bappeda) Wakatobi Regency, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), ASEAN Center for Energy (ACE), Institute for Essential Services Reform (IESR), The Purnomo Yusgiantoro Center, and the KEMALA Consortium.
